Summer Reading Camp

The Summer Reading Program at Mercy House Community Center was launched to combat summer learning loss and ensure that children in our community continue to develop essential literacy skills during the break. Many of the students we serve lack access to books and structured learning opportunities over the summer, putting them at risk of falling behind.

Our program provides a supportive, engaging environment where children receive guided reading instruction, literacy activities, and one-on-one support from bilingual volunteers. It is designed for elementary and middle school students, with a focus on improving reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency, ensuring they return to school prepared and confident.

Homework Club

Mercy House Community Center’s Homework Club and Tutoring Program provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where students can receive academic assistance and build essential skills. Meeting twice a week, offering one-on-one support from experienced educators and mentors.

Students receive help with homework, reading comprehension, and core subjects, leading to noticeable academic improvement—many have raised their grades, advanced in reading levels, and even made the honor roll.

Beyond academics, the program fosters confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love for learning, ensuring that students are empowered to succeed in and beyond the classroom.
